The Facts About My Life

Hi guys,
here’s a new song. This video was recorded at a recent Troublemakers gig, May 28, 2011 at Immerhin in Würzburg. The last gig of a three-day run and only the third time we ever played this song live.

The recorded intro pretty much tells the story. Here’s the short version in English.
I’ve been on Twitter for awhile (@markusrill) and I’ve met some very interesting people there. One of them is a music lover I enjoy talking to. She comes across as a very intelligent woman who’s very passionate about music.

Only after I’d been acquainted with her for awhile did I find out that my first impression of her would probably be very different if I met her on the street. She was very sick as a child and still lives with some major challenges.
You can piece that together when you listen to the song.
I thought it was intriguing to just put some facts about her life side by side. Some mundane, some funny, some serious. I guess that’s how her life must be. That’s how mine is, too. Mundane, funny, serious, different perentages on different days.

The video was filmed by Andreas Malassa.
The Troublemakers are Aggi Berger on drums & vocals, Felix Leitner on (slide) guitar and Chris Reiss on bass.

The Facts About My Life

I never threw a fastball quite as fast as the other kids
my favorite color is red
I never played outside in the summer when the other kids did
I stayed in, reading books instead

I met Walter Matthau when they were filming The Grass Harp in our town
on the corner of Main St. and 9th
but I’ve never seen that movie since it first came out
these are the facts about my life

I played a solo in my 5th grade band recital on a plastic flute
I’ve never been west of the Mississippi
and if you stop and ask I’ll tell you where to find the best dang barbecue
but you’d never stop to ask me

I’m 31 years old and I always keep a flashlight near my bed
still get scared of the dark sometimes
seems like I always got an old George Jones tune going round my head
these are the facts about my life

I was baptized in 11th grade in a Southern Baptist Church
I dig Jesus and I like cheese
I so love my baby nephew I hope he never gets hurt
and I know little Bryson loves me

I had viral meningitis when I was only eight months old
I look different and I never grew taller than 4’9”
I was born with two club feet and a mother’s hand to hold
these are the facts about my life

Thanks for stopping by,
Markus
