Writing and rewriting
Hey guys,
Ideally, there’s a moment of inspiration in songwriting. A spark, an idea that gets you started. Most of the time that’s only the initial idea, though, and the rest is hard work. Rewriting is crucial. Rewriting means looking at what you’ve got and writing it again, better, more original, making your idea clearer, avoiding cliché.

Here are my ten (oops, make that eleven) favorite records of 2010. I have to admit that I bought and heard fewer records this year than at anytime in the last fifteen. Which probably has a lot to do with the fact that I bought more diapers and baby food than ever. Consequently, I might have missed a bunch of great records.
